Author...E.B Black... tells us some interesting things about herself and her writing.
Growing up, I was sheltered from fantasy, paranormal, and science fiction novels. Now that I've tried them as an adult, I've become addicted! I like to escape to other worlds so much that I had to create my own.

In junior high and high school, I read romance novels all day long. It frustrated my mother and teachers because I'd neglect my homework in order to squeeze more reading time in.
I became an author because I enjoy reading and daydreaming. I wanted to share my passion for these things with all of you!

I live in Southern California with my boyfriend and two dogs. If you'd like to contact me about anything, please do so at

What is your book about?

Medusa went from being one of the most beautiful women in the world to the ugliest one because Poseidon raped her. It's about the struggle of her falling in love when she no longer remembers how to be human and is incapable of gazing into the eyes of her lover.

How did you come up with the idea for your book?

Medusa always terrified me because I thought as a child that when she turned people into stone, she also trapped their souls inside the statues. I used to worry whether or not she was real and if she would come and hurt me.

I found out she had been raped and is a misunderstood monster and I longed to get to know her.

What makes your book different than others in your genre?

It's sexier and grittier. I'm not afraid to write about anything.

Because I'm re-writing greek myths, my stories are tragedies and don't necessarily have happily ever afters.

Who is your favorite writer? Why?

Stephenie Meyer because she inspired me to write paranormal romance and fantasy romance novels.

She writes very differently than I do. She is afraid to kill characters and her books have an overall happier view of the world. I'm darker than she is.

What strange writing rituals do you have?

I always write sitting in bed. This leads me to sometimes take naps in the middle of the day. A few months ago, I rolled over my laptop and cracked the screen. It was terrible.

Is your writing style similar to any well-known writers? If so, which one(s)?

I think I'm most similar to Kelley Armstrong, but I only write for adults. She's not afraid to write about characters with faults or write about morbid and disturbing things. She also wrote a trilogy about necromancers, which is one of my favorite things to write about.

Who is your Muse?

Life is my muse. The interesting experiences I have and people I meet fuel my imagination.

What are your hobbies?

I play piano on occasion, I especially love to compose music.

When I get breaks from writing and promoting, I watch television, movies, or read books.

I also play D&D (and other role-playing games) with friends and enjoy video games.

Does your main character resemble anyone in your family or circle of friends?

Medusa has an exaggerated resemblance to me and some of my insecurities. Many women struggle with body image issues, including myself, and being a monster so hideous that people turn into stone when they gaze at you is not going to make someone very confident in their looks.

How long did it take you to write your book?

I was working on various aspects of writing and publishing Medusa's Desire for all of 2012.

What are some writing goals for the future?

I'm going to add a free novella to the Death of Eros series about Pandora's box.

I'm also working on a romantic trilogy about necromancers.

If you were stranded on an island which book would you bring with you?

Jane Eyre

What makes a good fantasy novel?

Imagination and the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes. I love the worlds and cultures fantasy can take you to. They're completely different from your own.

What are you reading at the moment?

Right now, I am reading a new type of romance novel every month that I review for my blog.

Some people just can not get their brain to accept how other people can be cruel and selfish. Not that I am any one special, however I am one of those who doesn't get it. So, when I get it–it hurts.
This past week I got victimize by a Facebook scam. For some of you out there you might be saying, ‘haha so what.’
After the first %&&^#&* I started to find what to do to rid myself of this thing. THANK YOU each and everyone of you that took the time to alert me of this. Of course, by then the vicious thing had me good.

Facebook and it’s wonderful (grrrr) set-up sent nasty thing to my friends. Some as naive as me and some a whole lot brighter than me.

Just the thought that of this nasty stuff being spread in my name sickened me. I know, how upset I was when years ago a virus took over my computer and ruined it to where I had no choice but replace it. Yet, this felt worse because it was affecting those who kindly chose to befriend me, whether as the Betty the author or as Betty the game friend.

I seem to have it under control and believe it’s gone. Now I can say my peace. I sincerely blame FACEBOOK for this. No one will convince my otherwise. IF they can remove photo’s and comments people report as offensive, in a heartbeat, then they can remove the events, pages, ad’s of these bogus accounts. Instead they have made it extremely hard to find ways to explain what is happening. If your experience doesn’t fit into their little boxes of choices in--help or report. lol. My efforts resulted in me getting blocked from even reporting the new attacks.

Well, thanks to a few of the kind people in my friend list (you know who you are) I have removed and have taken every precaution available to prevent further issues. Until the bad guys get wise and find new ways to harass us again.

Save this link (it’s safe)
This site will give you a bigger picture of what is going on. So Facebook is aware. Here they claim to read the posts (??no comment) but you can express yourself.

Well enough said.....To a Safe and Happy Facebook experience.

  Zeke Kincaid’s Woman
is going on tour. Don't miss it. The schedule to be posted soon.

Meanwhile, back at SampleSunday:
just a tad more.

‟Since your finished playing with your food let’s go for a stroll.”
She didn’t want to walk, yet Lori Ann knew better than to argue and rose to take his arm. Together they moved towards to garden. Zeke lead them down the path that crossed over the pond. In the middle on the wooden bride they stopped and leaned into the rail watching the fish below.
Lori Ann sighed. ‟I wonder where they go or how they survive the winter when the pond freezes?” It seemed her whole body sighed not having the answer.
He lifted her chin and turned her head to look at him. Exceptm Zeke didn’t want to look at her. He closed in for a kiss. The second their lips met he pulled the rest of her to him and savored the taste of her.
When he freed her he laughed carefree as child.
Come on lets play.”
Yanking her hand he led her across the bridge onto a small island.
A swing dangled from a large tree.
Want to play? Sit, I’ll push you.” He held the swing steady as she sat. Zeke gently pushed her, and each time he did a bit higher.
Finally, Lori Ann felt like she was soaring. The time the swing moved like a pendulum she’d closed her eyes when the move drew her higher. She giggled on the down trends. He steadied the pace for a while letting her just becoming one with the swing.
The swing slowed as he moved to the side and watched her face. She returned his smile. Before the swing came to a complete stop he reached for the ropes and stopped it. He moved still holding the ropes and knelt before her.
Zeke's hands slipped over hers. He pulled them free and covered her hands with his large ones and placed them on her lap.
Lori Ann, tell me what happened when someone took you from me.”
Silence, not even the birds seemed make any noise. The world waited for her to answer.
He tightened his grip on her hands to reassure her not harm or hurt her would come to her.

Why do some men become obsessed with the idea of submission and total obedience from their womenThe history of the Kincaid men can shed a tad bit of light. At least about them wild Kincaid's anyway.

The History of the Kincaid Family
Elias Kincaid’s father, Geoffrey hailed from Scotland. Unlike his famous illustrious ancestors who were well known for their bravery, Elias had another agenda. Rumors had it he could have taught the Marquis de Sade a few things. When word spread that Geoffrey was about to be arrested for--well let’s just say ungentleman-like behavior in one of his lady friend’s boudoir.

It wouldn’t have been so bad except the lady was Caroline Dansick herself. The wife of, Lord Benjamen Dansick visiting Scotland on the queens business. The warrant went out for two reasons. One: the lord himself wasn’t not included in the foray. Two: Lady Caroline now wore marks from the uncontrollable Geoffrey. These so called love marks prevented Lady Dansick from appearing at the esteemed banquet held in her lord and husband’s honor.
What really started the tongues wagging was when the lady herself fled with Geoffrey to the new frontier called, America.
Lord Dansick considered either going or sending someone after his errant wife. That was until, Henrietta Simpson smiled demurely behind her fan. Her bedroom eyes filled Benjamen with a new sense of adventure. The idea that Henrietta was twenty-two years younger than him had nothing to do with it, so he claimed.

It wasn’t five months before both Elias and Caroline realized their mistake. Elias could not produce any references and now had to accept work as a lowly foot runner for a local shipping company. He delivered communications between the main office and the ships dockside while unloading and reloading wares.
Caroline not being kept in the manner she desired, left Elias. This of course was not a good decision, as she had no where to go and soon fell in to the hands of hoodlums. She found her belly full and her body clothed in warm pretty clothes again. But, she had to spend many hours on her back to keep them there. And those hours lacked the exciting luster that Elias had brought into her life.
Elias was not one to stay down for long and when his time came to climb up out of the slums he took it. Soon, he was sent to Washington to oversee the offices there.
It was there he met the love of his life. A sweet innocent thing she was. However, Mary Lou’s parents had spoiled her rotten. And she let everyone know by the constant demands she made. A braver man would have run for the hills, as they say. Not Elias, he rose up to the challenge in more ways than one. Mary Lou met her match.
She took to the bedroom rumps with great fervor. It was her disobedience that done her in. Elias had informed her he wanted fish for dinner and she foolishly served him chicken stew for instead. This resulted in the first of many to come disciplines across Elias’ knees as he pounded home his message. The enthusiasm for the climatic ending of each of these events pushed Caroline to greater incidences of disobedience. Which Elias again raised up to on each occasion. He never disappointed her. As she increased in her rebellion he increased in the arduous methods of control.
A pattern was born. Elias swore his sons would have submissive and obedient wives. so help them.
Caroline presented her husband with Silas their first of five sons. Believing the only way to a happy relationship Elias stressed to his sons the need and means to accomplish that goal. When it became obvious not all the sons’ women went meekly along with the concept, the secluded back shed was born.
Like their parents and grandparent before them the Kincaid sons knew how to succeed in life. Soon each man’s financial portfolio held assets well beyond the average man.
One of Silas’ brother’s wife not at all pleased eluded the family and made her way back to the loving arms of her family. Immediate action took place to arrest her husband for his hard handling of her. The laws during that time were very strict and in favor of the woman.

Money talks, and after quite a bit of it traded hands, the woman was returned to her husband with the understanding she would be a obedient submissive wife. It was after this event Silas and his sons resettled and built the town of Paradise. No one wanted to deal with a scandal that a misbehaving woman might stir up.
It didn’t take long for the family to form an alliance or a better word might be syndicate. Rules for everyone’s benefit were set up. Protection for the women as well as disowning for those men who chose to abuse the arrangement. Kincaid women were to be trained not injured. Paradise was in a difficult terrain to reach easily. It took years before it finally became part of a stage coach run. As people discovered the beauty of the area the town grew.
The town council seated with only those man who favored the ‟arrangement” whether Kincaid born or not. They made sure those who settled there agreed with the ‟training” of the town’s women folk.
A new Kincaid pattern was borne when Markus kidnapped his beloved woman right in front of Bloomfield’s population. They were all guests at Lily Mae Brunts wedding. When the preacher asked, ‟Who objects to this woman being given to Samuel Parker III in marriage?” only one man called out. ‟I do. I object.”
Now, one man a crowd could handle. It was the ten other men in masks that kept the people in their pews, as Markus carried off Lily Mae, or maybe it was the ten shotguns they were holding. Whatever it was; the bride was gone.
So, twenty some odds years later the people of Paradise were not surprised when Marcus’ son, Charles made his move. When Penelope Carson stepped from the stage one fine day for the noon respite.
Charles Kincaid saw her. He wanted her. It was only natural that he took her.
Charles and Penelope’s story is told in:

A Raging Bull

Zeke Kincaid's Woman

is this Sunday's excerpt Enjoy.

Do you ride Miss Baxter? He (Zeke) didn’t wait for an answer before he waved at Tom to saddle his horse and another one for her.

Whether she could or couldn’t ride apparently it didn’t matter. For if she couldn’t she was about to learn. He helped her mount. In a flash she turned the horse and galloped away down the path leading to what she thought was a pasture.
Not knowing what Lori Ann was up to Zeke let out a curse and quickly mounted his own stead and raced after his escaping woman.
Come back here you little fool.”
Of course, she didn’t hear him. She jumped the gate at the field and rode until she felt the horse tire and pulled back the reigns so the horse could walk.
Zeke’s galloped up behind her. Hearing him she dismounted and strolled over to a stand of trees. The exhilarating ride left her slightly out of breath and her heart pounding.
He dismounted and hastened to her. He grabbed her. She didn’t recognize he was angry.
You fool.” He hissed. Then taking in her messed appearance. The wild ride left her hair wild and free about her face and her rapid breathing. It excited him.
He said, ‟No one ever made my blood run as hot as you do.”
He drove his body against hers and kissed her roughly. She relaxed and returned his kiss. He came to his senses.
You fool.”
Zeke, I wasn’t trying to get away. I know how to ride and it felt so good.”
I need to punish you for this.”
He grew serious and she began to perspire.
You’ve been very foolish. Riding away like that and not familiar with the area.”
A frown creased her brow. ‟Are you really going to punish me. I sorry.” She pouted hoping for the best.
Not as sorry as your going to be. Look, behind the tree your up against.”
She twisted to get a better view and froze.
OH... My...”
Shhh. Just move real slow back to the horses.”
Do you think he’ll attack us?”
This mean bull—you can bet on it. Now, git to the horse.” He slowly edged them to his own horse. Lifted her and her swung her on top of the horse. He put the reigns into her trembling hands and told her, ‟I better find you sitting on the veranda waiting for me, or else. Now go.”
His stead raised up and headed back the way she came. Zeke jumped on her animal knowing Lori Ann would have a better chance to get away on the larger and stronger horse. He swung around in the saddle to find Lori Ann to be sure she made progress in getting distance between her and the bull. The bull now snorted and pounded his left foreleg in the dirt. The beast raised his huge head and turned toward the motion lower in the pasture.
Zeke wrapped the leather strips around his hand and yanked his hat off. The bull started to move slowly at first and the earth pounding under his hooves as he gained speed. Zeke shot out of the trees yelling and waving his hat.
Me. Here, come get me you lousy son of a bitch!” He screamed out as loud as he could riding straight toward the adversary. The creature stopped short. So short it looked as if he might loose his balance and fall. He didn’t. He slowed, turned, and refocused just on whom Zeke wanted him to.
A sharp jerk on the reigns wrapped around his hand and the horse reared up and Zeke whisked off a rushed prayer. The horse beneath him landed on all fours now set in the new direction. Two muscular legs mashed into the horse sides begging him to run as if his life depended on it, not only the horse’s life, but Zeke’s and Lori Ann’s as well.
The bull was faster. ...........
